Hey all,
Wow, it's great to read all the blogs. For myself, I was excited and down during the month of Jan., it's like I couldn't get a good rhythm down. I wasn't losing weight and I got frustrated. Well this week I conquered it. I hit the Y on Mon, Wed, Fri (@ 5:15am)and Sat.(today) and this seems to work for my family and me. I had enough time to pray & get my family off for the day. This week was a great break through. Eating is still challenging when I don't plan, so note to self:
Planning is a top priority!

Update
I have been doing good! I had a protein shake for breakfast and lunch yesterday, and fish for dinner. I worked out at the Y, yesterday, too. Today, no exercise but healthy cereal for breakfast for and a shake for lunch. We will have whole wheat pasta spaghetti for dinner and hit the gym again tomorrow! Are any single women going to the Tye Tribbette concert on Saturday? I know the married women will be with their boos :)

Confession: I have not been actively involved in the challenge. Not on purpose though. When I have a lot going on, it is hard for me to stay focused on me. Typical right? We always put ourselves last. But I have to remember that their survival (my children's) depends on my survival. I am still going to win because I am going to kick in full-force and work double time!

Hello
Hello. I hope all is well with everybody. i have been sick for the past two days. So that means now working out. This is very hard for me. i enjoy working out and I hate when i get in the groove and then i get sick or something happens. But i did not gain any weight so I guess that is the point. But other than that I'm doing good. i can see myself winner. How about you guys. i just have to work on the spirtual part. I struggle with that.

Hi All!

Hi All -before I begin: my government is Tonya Brooks
Its nice to have so many sista working together for a purpose...to get Fit 4 Life!
Here's my MO -working out with wii fit, bootcamp & at Gardiner Rec center.
I hadn't worked out since before the holidays -this left me feeling icky: listless, tired and down. I worked out last night and today I am able to hang with the best of them:)! Just a side note to self; once you begin to work your body, it expects it and will not function right w/o it!
Also, don't forget your vitamins. My last physical my doctor did a full blood workup and recommend the ones I needed to bring my levels up. Not going to tell you which ones, because each one of us are different, so check with your doctor to see what you might need. Will say this, I started feeling a lot better.
Lastly, I am part of SparksPeople.com. If you are an online type of person, you will find great tools & tips. That's my input for the day!

Eating Out ...Too Much
Happy Monday All. I am emailing to tell on myself. I ate at The Cheesecake Factory, Red Lobster and Famous Daves all within the last 7 days. That is NOT good (I know.) I am going to try to limit myself to eating out once a week ( I knew thi swould be my downfall.) I do have plans to go to Applebee’s Tonight. I will try and order from the Healthy Menu and act like I'm in a competition.

Hello. I'm on the road to completion. We did line dancing and it was fun. i think i'm going to go every week. if you have not tried it you need to. At club network thay have free line dancing on mondays. so me and some of my work friends will attend on monday.
Line dancing is the place to be
People! WE HAD SO MUCH FUN LAST NIGHT!!! OMG! Line dancing was so much fun, we had lots of our BLR members show up. Kim Roberson, Tracy Knight, Sharon came as she mentioned, Angela Kates, Kristina Maye, Olivia West, Shavon Ashford (I hope i am not forgetting anyone). We had so much fun. i mostly had fun laughing at myself. I did burn some calories on that dance floor, my chest was hurting I was working so hard. i learned (in case i did not already know) that i do not have any rythem!! but thats alright I had fun anyway!
They talked about the Black Heritage Gala. For those of you who have not gone. it is a wonderful night out. We don';t get to got to Balls and fancy dinners all the time and this Gala is an opportunity to do that while celebrating Black History. I would encourage you to go. plus we are all working hard to lose weight and within a month we will be able to squeeze into a smaller size (smile).
I am trying to go to thr gym tonight but my car is in the shop. can anyone help?

Keep it moving
Hello All,
This is my first post and my first full week in BLR and its been good. I didn't join BLR to lose weight but to utilize it in an effort to assist me in becoming a healthier me while utilizing BLR as a vehicle to meet different people. I'm sure you all know, GOD is faithful and I have met some wonderful ladies in the past week....some of whom I've known but didn't know.
I work out at World gym which is very convenient for me because Im EASTSIDE but I can always get a guest pass if you are interested in joining me (M,W,F 7-8pm and Sat am-before none).
If you have been working out for a while, you get bored and this is exactly what happen to me just before the holidays . I needed something different to jump start me and this week I enjoyed mall walking, had a GREAT work-out at Gardner St. Rec. Center and tonight- line dancing....if you were there, you know I'm rhythmically challenged. All and all, it was a lot of fun- even if you aren't a dancer - like me.
Just an FYI and this works for me, I only weigh myself once a week-in the am, but as women, we lose inches before weight, so I rely on how my clothes fit and if I haven't eaten by 7:30pm- then, Im not eating.
Be Blessed, keep the right snacks near by and keep it moving.

Great News, Great day!
hello all,
I am so excited about having had the opportunity to watch history take place as our first African American president was swore in! There are not words to describe my feelings as I looked across the crowds of people (1.9 million to be exact)! i saw people of all colors, all backgrounds, all socio-economic statues coming together in celebration of the change that our country is anticipating. i met people from various parts of the country. We laughed together, sang songs, cheered together, and bonded. We may never see each other again in life, but we shared history together.
On another note, I FIT INTO A PAIR OF PANTS TODAY THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO WEAR IN A YEAR!!!! hallelujah!!! At the inauguration i tried my best to eat healthy. i took my meal bars, i did not eat at every rest stop, and had plenty of fruit and water with me for snacking, and i brought activities to keep myself occupied while on the bus. this worked out well for me. i did have some not-so healthy food once or twice, but i was careful to monitor my portion sizes and the frequency of those types of meals. Altogether i think i did a good job and i am am wearing the pants to prove it.
blessings,
see ya'll at line dancing!!!

BLR
Good Evening,
I am proud to say that I somewhat stuck to my changed eating habits. I got full on appetizers at Applebees on Saturday and finished my (never mind what kind of burger) on Sunday. Hey, at least I ate the lettuce and the tomatoe :) That was and has been my splurge for the month. It was my birthday and I am alright with that excuse...reason! None the less, I have read the blogs posted and I am very proud of all of you. You admitted to your weakness and recognize where the change is needed. The next step is to put action to the change; just do it at your pace. Try starting with one thing and gradually add the next step. I know you all know this, I just thought it might help to encourage with a nudge.
On another note, I got my butt kicked tonight by Jillian from the Biggest Loser tv. All I can say is: "this ain't right:( I'm only on level 1. I encouraged myself by chanting: ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS.............Maybe if I would have shut up I wouldn't have been so out of breath! On that note, be blessed and I can do without the next weigh in! Peace, Love & Barack Obama

Week Two
Hello all,
Well some of you might have seen me hopping around today in church. I am so determined to be the biggest loser that i pushed myself so hard on the treadmill and pulled a tendon in my foot. OMG, it is so painful. I of course have not be able to workout since then (b/c i can't walk!). My foot started hurting while I was on the treadmill, but I just kept saying just 10 more minutes until I complete 90 mintues on the treadmill, so i pushed through the pain. That was a mistake! i should have gotten my butt off that treadmill b/c now i am paying the price and I had a two day set back.
Oh well, you live and you learn! I know next time. On another note, i spoke with Yolanda Sayers and she told me that she lost 8.2 pounds! Go Londie. ya'll better watch out the girl is working it! I am looking forward to the line dancing Thursday but i am afraid to see just how out of shape i am! More than anything I am looking forward to having some fun with my fellow losers! see a then.

I will be the biggest loser
hey everyone! I just started the biggest loser competition, and i feel very proud of myself. My name is Tamesha and i currently am a member at the Church of love Faith Center. I have 4 children divorced, and i sing in the choir and praise team. I am very thankful for the many blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon me and he is not through yet. I think that it is a great idea for this competition to go on because it helps build self-esteem. I am not in this for the prize only but i want to continue to feel good about myself.

Today was a good day!
Hello Losers!
Today was a good day. I am a member at the YMCA. I mostly workout at the Elmgrove Y. Anyhow, they have a program called fitlinks and you can sign up to get a number that you use to track whenever you are on machines that are connected to fitlinks. As a result you can see how much weight you have lifted and how long you have been on cardio machines. Today fitlinks told me that I lifted over 10,000 pounds. Amazing and i did 92.1 minutes on the treadmill. It is great to have your work out totalled, it inspires me to keep going.

Well on my way!
Hello Biggest Losers!,
I am glad to have people to share my weight loss experience with. I have loss 5 lbs since starting this challenge and I am excited about what the future holds. I am hoping this venue will provide us an opportunity to share, encourage, and uplift one another! I am going to start first.
I had one of those poor meal planning days yesterday. I had to work late (which happens often in my field) and I did not have any healthy snacks with me. Of course there are no salad places located in the city and I had to feed the young people who were with me. so, what did we do...? well, we went to McDonald's. However, my plan was to get a salad (even though I don't really care for their salads).
Do you know they told me THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY SALADS!!! I thought, "are you serious!". So what did i do? Of course I ordered some fries and a double cheese burger, LOL...I was hungry! I was very upset with myself, b/c I wished I had waited until I had gotten home.
I did find comfort in the fact that I have been very good with my diet, therefore, one burger is not going to throw me off the scale. I did find that I had gained a pound when I got home. I am going to learn from this mistake and keep extra healthy snacks in the car to prevent a run in with the enemy (fast food) next time.
